Privacy Policy

SalaryScope respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). You can use every salary page and calculator without giving us any personal information.

What we collect

  • Email address, only if you sign up for salary alerts.
  • Salary feedback votes ("Accurate", "Too low", "Too high"). These are stored anonymously with the job they relate to. We do not link them to you.
  • Usage data such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, collected through analytics cookies.
  • Push notification subscription, only if you allow browser notifications.

Salaries you type into the calculator stay in your browser. They are not sent to us.

Why we use it

  • To send the salary alerts you asked for.
  • To check and improve the accuracy of our salary estimates.
  • To understand which pages are useful and fix what is not.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and your browser's local storage to remember choices (such as your last comparison or feedback vote) and to measure site use. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers for hosting, data storage, analytics and notifications. They only process information on our behalf. Some of these providers may store data outside South Africa, in countries with adequate data protection laws or under agreements that protect your information as POPIA requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe. Anonymous feedback and usage statistics may be kept for as long as they help us improve the site.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to its use, and unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the link in any email. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Security

We use access controls and encrypted connections to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep it safe.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
